MS Windows I – Ports on Win2k & Win XP

A lot of programs a few years ago used dongles that you would put on the parallel port as a validation key – no dongle, program would give you an error message and not run.

With the move to Win2k & Win XP, a lot of people found that their old programs couldn’t see the dongles (even when connected) and the programs wouldn’t run. The page listed above explains why that is and some possible workarounds.
